Hello, Katy - New MBM Instructor

Made By Movement has another new instructor... but not just any instructor. A physiotherapist, pilates specialist. Katy has been a colleague then close friend for a number of years, she has constantly supported us at Made By Movement and we are beyond thrilled to have her. She is truly blessing us with her teaching!

You will get to know her during her classes anyway but I sat down with Katy, our newest incredible online studio Instructor, to chat about all things Made By Movement, life, and current faves.

Katy, hello! Give us an intro, tell us about yourself?
Hi friends 🙋🏽‍♀️ I’m Katy, I’m 26 I’m a physio and Pilates instructor but you knew that. I can usually be found either on the mat, in the gym or in a bar with a large white wine.

What is your favourite thing about being a Made By Movement Instructor?

I love the freedom of made by movement, I can be as creative as I want with my classes and have the freedom to film them (and do them myself) anywhere and any time! Also I get to work with my bestie so that’s a BIG plus!!

You have accomplished a lot in a short space of time, becoming a physio and then working through the pandemic, teaching Pilates, and getting a PINC and STEEL qualification and getting more into cancer rehab - what motivates you to do so much in your professional life and what do you love about it?

The answer to this always makes me cringe but I love what I do because it helps people, the feeling I get when somebody walks out with a smile on their face or even feeling just a little bit better in themselves is so motivating to me

Tell us, what are some of your daily habits/ life hacks that help make you yourself?

Sunlight in the morning, always! And I try and do one thing every day to make myself feel good whether it’s exercise, cooking my fav food or calling my grandma - it’s the little things.

What does a typical morning look like for you, before a day of work? (Although, I know your currently traveling in Australia, Bali and Fiji! soooo jealous)

well when I’m not travelling the world hehe I would wake up and hope nobody talks to me until I’ve had a coffee (I’m not a morning person). Whilst I’m my coffee machine is on the go I’ll try and get my sunlight, then shower, get dressed, scroll on tiktok for a few minutes (I know this is frowned upon in the mornings but I need to get my fix) then I walk to work!

If you weren't a Physio, Pilates instructor and MBM teacher, what would you be doing?

I always wanted to be famous when I was growing up but unfortunately I have no performing talents so that’s out the question… But I loved languages at school so maybe something with linguistics? Who knows!

What music is on heavy rotation for you at the moment?

I’m gunna expose myself here but it’s either like tropical house playlists or playlists of songs that make me want to cry, occasionally I throw in abba’s greatest hits.

When you’re not instructing, what is your go-to day off activity?

It sounds backwards but I love going to classes on my day off - it’s nice being the student for a change! Then followed by a brunch and some shopping - she’s basic.

What show are you currently binging?

Chesapeake shores on Netflix - it’s just corny feel good tv and I’m obsessed

FAST ROUND:

Favorite place to holiday: Greece
Favorite food: crisps or seafood
What is your coffee order: black americano

Thank you Katy, I can't wait for everyone to love you as much as I do! I'll see you on the mat x
